The cultural redress recognises the traditional, historical, cultural and spiritual associations Rangitāne o Manawatū has with places and sites within their area of interest. The cultural redress package consists of the vesting of sites of significance, other site specific and statutory decision-making (governance) redress and relationship redress.
- The settlement vests 11 DOC sites in fee simple to Rangitāne o Manawatū, subject to the protection of conservation values, public access and third party interests such as leases;
- The settlement provides for statutory acknowledgement over 12 sites/areas, (six DOC sites, five rivers and the Manawatū coast);
- Deeds of recognition over 11 sites/areas, (six DOC sites and five rivers), which require various government entities to consult with the iwi on specific matters in regard to the property;
